About Us
I'm Andrea Wilson. I’m a mom and a grandma... and I ran a family daycare for several years when my kids were young. I have lots of great memories, but one of the things that has always stuck in my mind was our kids kitchen playset: a simple wooden kitchen stove, fridge, sink and cupboard. It was made of plywood, unpainted and unadorned, but it provided more fun and real-life experiences that anything else in the daycare. Indeed, it was the center of our playroom and the main attraction for all the little boys and girls over the years. I had a really hard time giving it up for sale when I closed the daycare. In my daycare, I had a big armchair I would sit in to cuddle shy newcomers or give a bottle to the baby in the group (sometimes both at the same time!). Our kids kitchen playset was close to my chair so I was always available for cups of tea, plastic pizza slices, or playdough cookies. No matter how many times (thousands, I'd say!) the kids fed me pretend food or imaginary tea, I always reacted with great enthusiasm. There's no use playing with a child, if you'd rather be somewhere else; they'll sense it in an instant.
